VETTRIANO

I first met Jack Vettriano in his London flat. He was extremely nice and agreed to anything I asked him to do, but a little uneasy to shoot in his bedroom. But I insisted. I wanted a picture with a Hopper - like mood. I knew little about him, but he gave me at first sight a feeling of loneliness. Of the whole session, this is the picture that shows more abouit him, in my opinion. He loved it, and later produced a painting - that is now displayed in a museum in Scotland, his country - from this picture. It was very flattering for me. Some time later I had to shoot him again for a book on tattoos, and I could not resist to set the painting in the background. London, 2008 / 2009

MC VICAR

I met the actor Daniel Mc Vicar shortly after the death of his son in a car crash in Los Angeles. We talked for some time about it. His mood was obviously quite bad, but during the whole session he has been extremely nice.  I started to shoot him some "normal" portraits, then I suggested a pose where he would have to try to re-catch his life. I had the rope in the trunk of my car, and I talked him into use it as a lasso. In my agency's studio in Torino, where we were shooting, there was a red curtain, and I thought it was perfect to give the feeling of a stage. This picture was not used by the client, that chose others from the same shooting. January 2011

NEVRUZ

Nevruz is a singer that was competing in 2010 XFactor. Together with the other artists, he was locked in a loft where we had to do the session, next to the broadcasting studios. The most difficult thing of this shooting has been to convince the security to open the studio door where the skeleton was located. It belonged to Nevruz, and he left it in the studio after the last broadcasting. The picture was not used by the client (they decided for another one), and was later published by another magazine.
