VETTRIANO

I first met Jack Vettriano in his London flat. He was extremely nice and agreed to anything I asked him to do, but a little uneasy to shoot in his bedroom. But I insisted. I wanted a picture with a Hopper - like mood. I knew little about him, but he gave me at first sight a feeling of loneliness. Of the whole session, this is the picture that shows more abouit him, in my opinion. He loved it, and later produced a painting - that is now displayed in a museum in Scotland, his country - from this picture. It was very flattering for me. Some time later I had to shoot him again for a book on tattoos, and I could not resist to set the painting in the background. London, 2008 / 2009
